Certification Profile
EN 15593 is an internationally recognized standard for hygiene management in the food packaging industry. It specifies requirements for manufacturers and suppliers of food packaging, including storage and transportation.
Standard for Food Packaging
The standard is based upon the principles of hazard analysis and risk assessment, and specifies appropriate levels of control points and measures for each stage in the manufacturing process.
The requirements are formulated in such a way that they can be easily integrated into management systems such as ISO 9001 and ISO 22000, but the guidelines can also be used as an independent hygiene management system.
EN 15593 was introduced in 2008 as the European alternative to the BRC/IoP standard, and has already gained widespread acceptance in Europe. Its focus is primarily upon first-level packaging, but it can also be applied to other packaging components and to suppliers of packaging manufacturers.
